About the library

Newfield Green Library is located at 577 Gleadless Road, Sheffield,S2 2BT. It is a community library and an important social hub for local people. Reach South Sheffield took over the management of this library from Sheffield City Council in 2014, saving it from possible closure. The library has had around 5500 visits in the last year, with an average of 45 visits per week.

Tuesdays: 9:00am- 4:00pm

Wednesdays: 9:30am-12:30pm

Thursdays: 3:00pm-6:00pm

Fridays: 9:00am-12:00pm

Saturdays: 9:30am-12:30pm

 

Volunteers

The library has 25 dedicated volunteers that run shifts and manage activities. The volunteers have increased book loans by 30% in the last year, hosted 51 coffee mornings and delivered 40 children’s craft sessions to 158 young people.

A one-to-one employment support service which offers support with job searches, CVs, applications, interviews and confidence. Call (0114)2394888 to make an appointment or drop-in and speak to our Employment Support Worker.
Volunteer led group for over 50s who want to become more digitally aware.
After school craft club for children led by volunteers. Parents must accompany their children.
A supportive group for people living with Dementia and their carers. Meet new people, have a chat and share information. Refreshments provided.
A volunteer led support group for people who having caring responsibilities, supported by Sheffield Carers Centre.
A volunteer led social group for local people who want to meet new people, and there are craft activities available.
Representatives from Sheffield Credit Union available to talk with you about their services.
